Chicagoland’s year of mega-snow!

I read that last year we got 3.5 inches, and this year we were at 48 inches BEFORE today!

What an AMAZING WAY to get 1400 calories, a LOT of calories in for the day! Woo!

❄ 20 dates
❄ Hot or warm water (whatever you are comfortable with)
❄ 2 Tblsp of carob powder
❄ 1/2 tsp of raw vanilla powder
❄ Peppermint herbal tea bag (organic if possible)

Blend them all together (except for the tea bag) on your smoothie setting of your Vitamix.

Add the tea bag. And enjoy the tasty awesome warm up!



We are dealing with another Chicago Weather Vortex (see picture below)! It’s zero degrees here! Brrrrr!!! I’m dreaming of the tropics, and wanted something warm, desperately!!!

Do You Want a Lightening Fast Digestion and Metabolism?



Be aware and grow in your awareness of good food combining.

It can truly make a difference in your digestion, and therefore your ability to lose weight if you are looking to do so.  You want a healthy moving digestive track with everything flowing freely, not getting stuck.

The first basic step is to eat fruit alone.  It is best in the morning.  It digests very quickly, and will catch up to other things you have eaten.  (Then it can cause fermentation, gas, bloating, and other fun stuff!)  Thus, keeping it first in the morning is best!  (Unless you eat it all day – like me, but I eat it alone or mixed with tender greens.)

Even fruit needs to be combined properly.  There are several types of fruits.

Mango Lime Fiesta Dressing!!!

Another goodie!


~ Frozen mango (can’t find fresh right now)
~ Yellow Lime – 1/4 to 1/2 (yellow = ripe, just learned this, and I’m a believer now!)
~ Basil – 2-3 large leaves
~ Guacamole – 1 packet (I buy the little packets from Costco)

Blend all ingredients in the Vitamix with about 1/2 cup of water to help it blend nicely.

It’s soooo super delicious!

This made enough for two large salads!

It’s possible to do $10 – 15 per day, or $70-105 a week on 80/10/10, buying bulk, organic farmers markets, and Mexican or Asian markets.

Almost everyone I know says how expensive it is to eat a raw vegan, somewhat organic diet.

So I was on a mission… to find out if it’s possible to do it for $10 a day!

4 oranges = $1.48 (Bought from my Fair Share store at 37 cents each)
17 organic dates = $2.72 (Bought online from 7hotdates.com in bulk, 12 pounds = $4.80 per pound, including shipping!)
13 bananas = $1.59 (Bought from Fair Share, about 12 cents each)
1/2 pineapple = $0.75 (Bought from Fair Share, $1.50 per pinapple)
1 head of butter lettuce = $1.56 (Bought from Costco in a 3 pack)
1 Tbsp carob powder (organic) = $0.23 (Bought from Raw Food World in a 16 oz package, lasts me about 2 months)
3 celery stalks = $0.25 (1 package was 99 cents at Fair Share)
1 tomato = $0.21 (Fair Share)
1 mango = $0.69 (Bought at a Mexican store nearby)
1/2 avocado = $0.50 (Bought in a package of 5 from Costco)
grape/cherry tomatoes = $ free from the garden 🙂
herbs and chives = $ free from the garden

Today only the dates, carob powder, tomatoes, and herbs were organic.

✿ Menu for the Day ✿

Breakfast ~ pineapple orange juice
Lunch ~ raw moccachino = 13 bananas, 17 dates, 1 T carob powder and lots of water
Dinner ~ big salad = 1 head of butter lettuce, 3 celery stalks, tomatoes (1 from store, lots from garden), chives/herbs, 1/2 of avocado
Salad dressing = 1 mango blended (could blend with the tomatoes, herbs, and celery if desired)

It CAN be done! At least in Chicagoland, U.S.A.


Your only disease is “I don’t wanna eat my fruit, greens, or drink enough water” disease.

My mom and I were joking around when this title came out…
but I believe this is truly the real “disease” people have. The disease is in their belief system. “Oh, I can eat n drink whatever the bleep I want and not suffer any consequence for it.”

Then they actually do suffer for the choices (as did I), so they slap some pain med or alcohol or drug of choice on top of it to mask the pain. Except what does that cure?


Repeat cycle of craziness.

…Until you are sitting there in all your glorious misery wondering, “How the heck did I get stuck in this lousy place?”

Back to people I know…. They don’t like salad, they choose water as a last resort, and they are in a lot of pain, most of the time.

Being almost 40, I have learned by now that I cannot fix anyone or convince them to change. No one could fix me. I had to be willing and open to the truth. And until that happened, nothing changed.

One of the best things I was ever taught by my friend and mentor, Rich Case, was to “be willing to be made willing.”

You may not be “willing” to change right now, but are you willing to be made willing? That is the difference that I believe will bring change to your life.

I love change. Change for the better. I crave it. I’m constantly after it.

Not everyone is like me or has that personality. Ok, fine. But do you have an open or closed heart?
That will make the difference for your present and your future.

You wanna stay in glorious misery? Fine, stay there. But don’t complain to me about how much pain you are in.
